ATTENTION ALL GARDENERS

The Praxis Garden Project is a simple decentralized initiative encouraging all gardeners in the United States to help fortify their communities by setting aside a portion of their gardens this year for growing storage crops to use and donate in their communities this fall.

Consider the following: There are at least 70 million households in the United States that have a garden.

If just 1 percent of home gardeners grew and donated just 10 pounds of storage crops in the fall of 2025, this would mean 7 million pounds of food for our neighbors who might need it this winter.

By planning now, participating in the project, and spreading the word, we can all help to make a real impact in our communities for the coming fall and winter of 2025!

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

  • Choose a garden bed or other area for your Praxis Garden.
  • Plan to grow a storage crop such as potatoes, carrots, onions, or winter squash. Consider calling your local food bank and asking what they most need in your area.
  • Share updates about your garden plans and progress on social media to inspire other gardeners and spread the word!
  • Ask local gardeners for help or advice if you need it! Work together if you can!
  • Harvest your crops and donate some or all of your storage harvest to direct aid organizations in your community.

NO GARDEN?

If you don’t have your own growing space, see if you have any friends or neighbors who could share space with you. You can also look for community gardens that have space or may need volunteers.

SPREAD THE WORD

  • Put up flyers around your community!
  • Share the project with your in-person and online communities!
